Invitational Powerlifting meet in Plainview

Saturday, January 13, was the first Invitational Powerlifting meet of the season in Plainview. Dimmitt entered 17 lifters into the meet, 10 girls and 7 boys. There were 93 lifters on the girls’ side with 16 teams, and 166 lifters on the boy’s side with 19 teams. The girls finished 2nd as a team. Girls standings: Laney Medrano - 105# weight class - 2nd place Clarissa Hernandez - 132# weight class - 1st place . . .

Touring SimCentral

Dimmitt CMA and EMT students headed to Amarillo on January 11 to Tour SimCentral.  SiMCentral is a collaborative initiative of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, West Texas A&M University, and Amarillo College. The Center uses high fidelity human patient simulators to provide multi-disciplinary training opportunities to medical, nursing and allied health students/residents, as well as continuing education . . .

EKG - Health Science - 2017-2018

Dimmitt High School students learn how to perform EKG's and the steps to become certified. An electrocardiogram ( EKG  or ECG) is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. An  EKG  shows the heart's electrical activity as line tracings on paper. The spikes and dips in the tracings are called waves. The heart is a muscular pump made up of four chambers. . . .

Congratulations to the Dimmitt EMT Students

Congratulations to the Dimmitt EMT Students The Dimmitt EKG/EMT students each received a Scholarship in the amount of $200 from Carolyn Witherspoon the Executive Director of the Coalition of Health Services "The Gateway Health Science Program".  This money was applied to their tuition to Amarillo College to help pay for their EMT Classes. Basic Life Support

These students traveled to AACAL in Amarillo and became certified in CPR, Basic Life Support and the AED. Haydon Miller, Payton Miller, Maria Medrano, Emilio Jimenez, Laney Medrano and Bianca Silva.
