Ethan Lopez, Dimmitt senior, was named one of six finalists at the 2018 Free Enterprise Speech Contest
at the 85th Texas Farm Bureau Annual Meeting held in Corpus Christi.
Lopez is in the top 10 of his class at Dimmitt High School, last year he ranked number two. He is
active in FFA- Sentinel, junior class president and FCA - Junior Class Representative. He is involved in
athletics, student council and the gifted and talented program, and competes in UIL in computer science,
calculator, and number sense. Lopez’s goal is to major in Ag Business and become an accountant. He is
the son of Jesse and Jessica Lopez.
As a top state finalist, Lopez will receive an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to visit elected
officials, observe Congress in session, and visit historical sites. He will receive a $2,000 scholarship from
Texas Farm Bureau.
